Most people learn a new language for work, travel or family. The hardest part is not grammar but speaking with confidence. A few minutes of practice every day makes a bigger difference than one long lesson each week.

AccentLoop’s speaking level test asks you to complete three spoken tasks (about 3 minutes in total) and estimates your English speaking level on the CEFR scale from A1 to C2, with separate scores for fluency, pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary. Unlike grammar quizzes, it listens to you speak. It is an estimate for practice, not an official certificate.
How the speaking level test works
- Task 1 — read a short paragraph aloud (30 seconds). This measures pronunciation and fluency.
- Task 2 — describe a picture in your own words (45 seconds).
- Task 3 — answer an everyday question (60 seconds).
- Get your estimated CEFR level with four sub-scores and what to practise next.

IELTS and TOEFL
People often ask what their level means for IELTS or TOEFL. As a very rough, unofficial guide, B1 is often linked with IELTS 4–5, B2 with 5.5–6.5 and C1 with 7–8. AccentLoop is not affiliated with IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge or ETS, and this test is not an official score — use it to see where to practise.
Frequently asked questions
Is this an official English test?
No. It is a free practice estimate. For a certificate you need an official exam such as IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge. We are not affiliated with any of them.
Why test speaking instead of grammar?
Many learners score B2 on grammar tests but freeze when speaking. Speaking is the skill you use in interviews and calls, so it is the one we measure.
Do you store my recordings?
No. Each recording is analysed and discarded. The text result is kept for 30 days and you can delete it from your account page.
How long does it take?
About 3 minutes of speaking plus a few seconds of analysis after each task.
