Privacy policy

The short version

  • You can take the accent test and level test without an account, email or name.
  • Recordings are analysed once and never stored. We never build a voiceprint or try to identify you from your voice.
  • Scores and the text of what you said are kept 30 days, then deleted automatically. You can delete them sooner with one click.
  • We do not sell data and do not use your recordings to train AI.

Voice data

Before your first recording we ask for your consent and confirm you are 13 or older. Here is exactly what happens to your voice:

  1. Recording. Your browser records only while the red button is on. Nothing is recorded in the background.
  2. Analysis. The audio goes over an encrypted connection to our server, which passes it to an AI speech model (Google Gemini, via OpenRouter) to estimate your accent, pronunciation, level or interview answer. The audio is held in memory for the length of that request and then discarded. We do not write it to disk, a database or file storage.
  3. Conversation practice. In AI conversations your browser's built-in speech recognition turns speech into text (in Chrome and Safari this is done by Google or Apple under their own privacy terms). Only the text reaches us.
  4. What we keep. The result: scores, the closest-accent estimate, the words the model heard and the feedback, linked to an anonymous ID. These are deleted after 30 days. Share links stop working at the same time.
  5. What we never do. No voiceprints or other biometric identifiers, no speaker identification, no selling or sharing for advertising, no model training on your voice.

Our AI processors receive audio only to return a result. We use providers whose API terms do not allow training on the data we send.

Deleting your data

On your account page:

  • Delete my saved results removes every saved score, transcript, level test, practice day and leaderboard entry right away.
  • Delete my account also removes the anonymous account and its cookie. An active subscription is cancelled first.

You can also email hello@accentloop.app with your recovery key and we will delete everything tied to it within 30 days.

Everything else we store

  • An anonymous ID in a cookie. It is created the first time you use a feature that needs it (daily limits, streaks, purchases), not when you take a free test. Paid users get a recovery key to use their plan on another device.
  • Usage counters per day (for example, how many sentences you checked), deleted after 3 days. We also count requests per IP address for 1 day to stop abuse; the IP is not stored with your results.
  • Leaderboard: a random nickname (like “Calm Otter 42”) and your score. No real names.
  • Payments: product, amount, date and the email Stripe collects for your receipt and the trial reminder. Card details go to Stripe and never reach us.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics 4 with page paths only. Result and share IDs are removed from paths before anything is sent.

Who processes data for us

Hosting (Vercel), database (Supabase), AI speech and text models (OpenRouter and Google), payments (Stripe), email (Resend) and analytics (Google). Each receives only what its job needs.

Children

AccentLoop is not directed at children under 13. We ask you to confirm you are 13 or older before recording. If you believe a child under 13 has used the service, email us and we will delete the data.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or California law) you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, or object to processing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law. Email hello@accentloop.app.
